How to Report a Problem
Fix.bm makes it easy to report issues you spot around Bermuda: potholes, broken street lights, litter, overgrown vegetation, and more. Here's exactly how to do it, step by step.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- A device with internet access (phone, tablet, or computer)
- The location of the problem (an address, street name, or just be near it so we can use your GPS)
- A brief description of what's wrong
- Optionally, a photo of the problem (this really helps!)
You do not need an account to make a report, though having one makes things faster.
Step 1: Find the Location
Go to fix.bm and type a street name, address, or landmark into the search box. You can also tap "use my location" if you're near the problem and have GPS enabled.
The map will move to show the area you've chosen.
Step 2: Drop a Pin
Click or tap on the map at the exact location of the problem. A pin will appear. You can drag it to adjust the position if needed.
Being precise helps the Government department find and fix the issue faster. Try to place the pin on the correct side of the street, near the actual problem.
Step 3: Add a Photo (Recommended)
A picture is worth a thousand words. You can:
- Drag and drop a photo onto the upload area
- Click "browse photos" to select from your device
- On mobile, take a photo directly from your camera
Photos help Government departments understand the severity of the issue and locate it more easily.
Step 4: Describe the Problem
You'll see a form appear. Fill in:
- Category
- Choose the type of problem from the dropdown, for example, "Potholes", "Street Lighting", "Litter & Fly Tipping", "Chickens", etc. If nothing fits, pick "Other".
- Subject
- A short title for your report, e.g. "Large pothole outside the post office" or "Overflowing bin on Church Street".
- Details
- Describe the problem in more detail. The more information you give, the easier it is to fix. Include things like: How big is it? How long has it been there? Is it dangerous?
Step 5: Your Details
Enter your name and email address. The Government needs these to respond to you.
- Your email is never published on the site
- You can choose to submit anonymously by unchecking "show my name publicly". Your name still goes to the Government, but won't appear on the website
If you already have an account and are signed in, this step is automatic.
Step 6: Submit
Click "Submit" to send your report.
- If you're signed in: Your report is sent immediately.
- If you're not signed in: Check your email for a confirmation link. Click it to finalise your report.
That's it! Your report is now live on Fix.bm and has been sent to the relevant Government department.
What Happens Next?
- Your report appears on the map so other residents can see it and avoid duplicate reports.
- The Government receives your report via email and will work on resolving the issue.
- You'll get email updates when the status of your report changes.
- You can check progress by visiting your report page at any time.
Tips for Great Reports
- Be specific about location: "Outside 15 Front Street, near the bus stop" is better than "Front Street".
- Include a photo: It dramatically speeds up response times.
- One issue per report: If you spot multiple problems, submit separate reports for each.
- Check for duplicates: Before reporting, browse the map to see if someone has already reported the same issue. You can leave a comment on their report instead.
- Be factual: Describe what you see, not who you think is responsible.
